"Remember when you thought you were going to grow up and become something else. Like, grown, or complete or fixed or better. Oh, wait, most of you are still under the delusion that that is going to happen. Oops. Sorry."

Hot off its smash Edinburgh Fringe debut, award-winning writer, solo performer, and comedian Desiree Burch brings her newest solo piece, “This is Evolution,” a stand-up and storytelling performance about the throes of personal growth and growing up. This one-night-only performance features a talk-balk with the visiting artist directly following the event.

“This is Evolution” looks at an identity shaped by being fat, black, and female, as well as other formative events. Desiree considers how identity is formed, how it sticks, and how it keeps us stuck. Effortlessly weaving her work as both a stand-up comedian and storyteller, "This is Evolution" looks at the personal adventures and misadventures of getting to know yourself, and love yourself, so you can finally get over yourself and move on to the important stuff.

Desiree has been featured on Before the Morning After, the 2015 Big C Comedy Gala and live performances of Welcome to Night Vale.
