Poetics and Politics of Documentary is a practice-led research symposium exploring the interconnections between art and knowledge as they are expressed in documentary practices, broadly conceived.

May 16:  Welcome and Opening Event
May 17:  Keynote: Lana Lin with day-long panels and speakers
May 18:  Keynote: Kirsten Johnson with day-long panels and speakers
May 19:  half-day panels and speakers

Principal Organizers are professors Irene Gustafson and Irene Lusztig in conjunction with The Center for Documentary Arts and Research (CDAR) and the Institute of the Arts and Sciences at UCSC.

The symposium is made possible by funding from Porter College, the UCSC Arts Research Institute, the UCSC Institute of the Arts and Sciences, and the UCSC Center for Documentary Arts and Research (CDAR) with additional support from the Porter College/Film and Digital Media Visiting Artist Series.

Thursday, May 16:  6-9pm
Friday-Saturday, May 17-18: 10am-5pm
Sunday May 19: 10am-12pm
