Spring 2017 Open Studios

Open Studios
Friday, June 9, 2017 - 12:00pm
Baskin Visual Arts Center
Presented by:
Art Department

Wrapping up the academic year, the Art Department transforms into an explosion of shapes, colors, and meanings when students exhibit work indoors and outdoors at the Elena Baskin Visual Arts Center. Always impressive, this display of drawing, painting, print media, sculpture, intermedia, photography and electronic art is a free event open to the public.

Students, faculty and staff from all over campus, as well as art lovers from the greater community, visit for enjoyment and inspiration. It is a great opportunity not only to enjoy art but also to meet the artists, make connections, discuss processes and philosophies, and perhaps learn something in a fun way. If you have ever wondered what UC Santa Cruz art students do, this is your chance to come see for yourself!

The Art Department's Open Studios runs in conjunction with the Digital Arts and New Media (DANM) Open Studios, so be sure to continue to the adjacent Digital Arts Research Center (DARC) to see the DANM displays. (Several Art Dept. classes exhibit work in the DARC building as well, so you will also find works from Art students there.)

Visitors may also enjoy the ever-popular annual Student Print Sale, running concurrently with Open Studios.
