The UCSC Chamber Singers, under the direction of Michael McGushin, present a varied program of choral masterworks celebrating Advent and the Season of Christmas. The concert consists of Francesco Durante's setting of the "Magnificat," Mary's hymn of praise from the Gospel of Luke for chorus, soloists, and baroque ensemble of strings and continuo organ; Francis Poulenc's "Quatre Motets pour le temps de Noël" for a cappella chorus; and Benjamin Britten's "A Ceremony of Carols," settings of medieval English texts for choir and harp.
