UCSC Wind Ensemble

"The Stars My Destination"
Andromeda Galaxy
Friday, March 10, 2017 - 7:30pm
Music Center Recital Hall (UCSC)
Presented by:
Music Department

An evening of works inspired by stars, planets, and the unknowable things beyond our solar system. Holst's classic "Jupiter", from The Planets is joined by a new classic: Mason Bates' "Mothership" for Wind Ensemble and electronics. David Gillingham's "Galactic Empires" harnesses all the depths of color of a wind and percussion ensemble to vividly depict both real and imagined places in our universe. Steven Bryant's "All stars are love" sensitively illuminates a poem by E. E. Cummings. The performance will also feature a world premiere of a new work by composer Ike Minton. Directed by Nathaniel Berman.

Seating is unreserved.
