2004 Street Scene by Kurt Weill book by Elmer Rice Lyrics by Langston Hughes Adapted from the original play by Elmer Rice, Street Scene (1929) takes place in the mid-1940s on a hot summer day in New York City. The collaborative work of playwright Elmer Rice and the poet Langston Hughes puts the "melting" into the "melting pot" - the tensions and temperatures are high. |
