Your Turn: A participatory art work and symposium on ethics happening at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History from 11:00AM - 4:00PM with Artist Fellow Kristaps Gulbis, UCSC students, the Social Practice Arts Research Center & the University Of New Mexico’s ISP Program. All are welcome.

 

This free public event is made possible by the Social Practice Arts Research Center at UCSC, Arts Dean Funds, ARI, CEC ArtsLink, and the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History.

Symposia SPARC sponsored Talk Sandwich at the UCIRA’s State of the Art Conference November 2010: Talk Sandwich was an alternative symposium that explored pedagogy, research, and ideal futures for arts education. Organized by Associate Professor Dee Hibbert-Jones with DANM graduate assistant Dustin O’Hara.


Soif Social: A networking opportunity among UC faculty, Santa Cruz community members and interested others to develop and extend interest in SPARC. With guest presentation by practice-based researcher James Reed, Agents of Change. Developed out of the Social Sculpture Research Unit, Oxford Brookes University, UK, Agents of Change is an international project focusing on ecological crisis through deep listening and public intervention.

 

SS Palo Alto symposium: SPARC hosted the first SS Palo Alto Art Park Project annual symposium, bringing together researchers, professionals and others interested to discuss art, science, education and social change with a strong environmental focus.  

 

Reading Group: SPARC launched a reading/discussion group comprised of faculty, friends, graduate, undergraduate artist and researchers to discuss key texts relating to social and environmental practice.
