Bridge Funding

Bridge Funding

Bridge funding opportunities are available to support ARI-funded or externally funded projects in critical areas of need, including funds for:

  1. materials/equipment (up to $2,500)
  2. travel to present the project (up to $2,000 for individual and $5,000 for collaborative projects)
  3. project expansion (up to $5,000) 4. opportunity funds (up to $500)

A complete application should include:

  • a project description (2-3 pages, double spaced, see instructions below) that explicitly addresses the funding gap, and how ARI support will help move the project through a critical stage and toward the next funding opportunity, as well as a brief budget.
  • a complete list of funding committed to the project (prior ARI award; funded external application, etc.), and a list of targeted funding opportunities.
  • a brief curriculum vitae (2 pages maximum)

Project Description Guidelines for all Arts Research Institute Programs:

The project description should:

  • state the objectives, ideas, and methodology of the project
  • discuss the project's significance and originality with reference to current scholarship and/or arts practice
  • specify the interdisciplinary scope of the project, if appropriate 
  • include a timetable and work plan, specifying project activities in the proposed award period
  • define the project's target audience(s) and the form(s) in which the research will eventually disseminated (e.g. book, article, art exhibit, performance, etc.)

2020-21 Application Opens: Thursday, April 1, 2021
2020-21 Application Deadline: Monday, April 19, 2021
Individuals will be informed about funding as soon as possible and grants may commence immediately.
