In collaboration with UC Santa Cruz's Porter College and the Arts Division, the Mary Porter Sesnon Art Gallery presents a virtual exhibition of works from first-generation UC Santa Cruz Arts alumni. This alumni exhibition celebrates the Sesnon Gallery’s 50th anniversary of its opening in 1971.
The virtual exhibition features works by the following alumni: Natalie Juarengui Ortiz (Porter '18), Karina Tavares Perez (Porter '18), Katerina Lanfranco (Kresge '01), Jorge Gomez-Gonzalez (Rachel Carson '18), Jocelyn Lee (College Ten '20, Roan Bontempo (Porter '18), Thomas Fallis (Porter '16), Monique Islam (Porter '12), Irma Barbosa (Porter '19), and more.
This exhibition seeks to raise the visibility of first-generation Arts alumni and students at UC Santa Cruz by highlighting their narratives, possibilities, and strengths through their work. This is an opportunity to recognize the challenges and unique gifts they bring to the university and the arts. Join the panel discussion on April 22 for a virtual walk-through of the exhibition.
