Position: Game Design Artist Intern

Type: Full-Time (30 to 40 hrs per week)

Compensation: $13 per hr (based on experience)

JOB SUMMARY:

NASA NeMO-Net, run by the NASA Ames Laboratory for Advanced Sensing, is seeking an intern for the Summer of 2019 to assist in the development of a citizen science game where players help NASA classify coral reefs and other aquatic ecosystems by painting on 2D and 3D images of coral. User classifications are used to train an algorithm that learns from the data and, over time, will be able to classify coral autonomously.

Responsibilities

As part of the NASA NeMO-Net team, you will have the opportunity to take on a wide variety of tasks. Examples of these tasks include:

  • Creating sleek videos to visualize our data at conferences like AGU & GDC.
  • Creating animated shorts to educate players about the ocean and update them on the mission’s progress.
  • Creating 3D environments and fish for the player to discover in-game.
  • Refining the design of existing UI

Recommended Skills

  • It is okay if you are not proficient in the following skills, but knowledge on how to use these software is a plus!
    • Unity
    • Autodesk Maya / Blender
    • Adobe After Effects / Premiere
    • Adobe Photoshop / Illustrator
