UCSC Jazz Big Band: "Swingin' in Rhythm"

Sunday, March 13, 2016 - 7:30pm
Recital Hall, Music Center
Presented by:
Music Department

The UC Santa Cruz Large Jazz Ensemble features the best jazz musicians on the campus. Many, if not most, are not music majors. There are physics majors, IT majors, biology majors, literature majors—the whole cross section of the campus drawn together by their love of jazz and their inability to stop playing it.

Swingin’ in Rhythm is directed by world-renowned jazz educator Charles Hamilton.  Mr. Hamilton led the Berkeley High School Jazz Ensemble for 28 years and is only the second jazz educator ever to be awarded the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts "Distinguished Teachers in the Arts" award.
