The Arts Dean’s Fund for Excellence and Equity (ADFEE) is dedicated to supporting the dissemination of student research. Qualifying projects must demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. This fund is supported entirely through the generosity of our donors, and remains open as long as funding is available. Funds are administered through the Office of the Dean of Arts.
Arts Professional Pathways Internship Scholarship
Arts Professional Pathways supports successful student application and placement in internships. The intention of this scholarship is to make internships more accessible to all students by offsetting basic needs such as living expenses, moving expenses, lost income, or increased travel expenses associated with the internship.
Students who are accepted into internships are eligible to apply for the Arts Division Internship Scholarship Fund that supports living expenses during the period of the internship. Funding averages $1000 per month for the duration of the internship available on a first come basis as funds are available. For the 2024-25 application cycle, funding is increased to up to $2000 per month for the duration of the internship, with a maximum of $6000 in funding.

Lakas Shimizu Memorial Scholarship
The Arts Division is excited to announce that this year they will present three students with the Lakas Shimizu Memorial Scholarship. The selected recipients of this scholarship will receive $2,500 each. The Lakas Shimizu Memorial Scholarship was established in 2022 by the Shimizu family in honor of their son and grandson who passed away unexpectedly at the tender age of 8 years old. Lakas means strength in Filipino, and the Lakas Shimizu Scholarship honors the spirit of generosity, kindness, artistic inclination, and great sense of fairness and equity that Lakas embodied.
The awardees were selected by a review committee convened by the Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The recipients of the 2025 Lakas Shimizu Memorial Scholarship are listed below:
