Visiting Scholars: Information on J-1 Visas

If the appointee will need a J-1 visa, please start the appointment process as soon as possible in advance. Getting the paperwork to the Division three months in advance is a good guideline to follow for new visas. For visa extensions, please allow two months. Please note that International Faculty & Scholar Services (IFSS) charges a recharge fee of $650 for all J-1 visa applications, and $500 for J-1 visa extensions. The department or faculty sponsor requesting the J-1 visa will be responsible for this fee. Please contact Academic HR Specialist Lili Diaz for assistance with the visa request paperwork.
