Department of Performance, Play & Design

The UC Santa Cruz Arts Council on Equity and Inclusion’s (ACEI) are pleased to announce the unveiling of a campus community mural in the Porter Study Center by artists, activists, and UCSC alumni Irene Juarez-O’Connell and Victor Cervantes. Audiences are invited to join us at the Porter Koi Pond on Thursday, June 1st from 4-5:30 pm to celebrate the work of our students, the artists, and community supporters! At the event, students will be leading a t-shirt and poster screen printing station, and snacks will be served. As part of the ACEI Campus Policing & Community Safety Art Program, artists have collaborated with a student-led advisory board to consider community safety and policing on and off campus. Led by Film and Digital Media Professor John Jota Leaños, the ACEI project uses the arts as a catalyst to consider the terms of justice within our campus community.

Thank you to our supporters: UCSC Chancellor Cynthia K. Larive, UCSC Arts Division Dean Celine Parreñas Shimizu, Porter College, UCSC Arts Committee on Equity and Inclusion, and UCSC Institute of the Arts and Sciences.
