History of Art and Visual Culture
Filmed on location in Las Vegas, Queen of Diamonds (77 minutes, 1991) revolves around the life of an alienated blackjack dealer. Starring Tinka Menkes as the intense, damaged dealer, the film examines the desolation when the sun comes up.
Followed by a conversation with the filmmaker.
ABOUT THE SERIES
The annual Visual and Media Cultures Colloquia (VMCC) at UCSC are a collaboration between the graduate programs in Film and Digital Media Department and Visual Studies in the History of Art and Visual Culture Department. The series brings an array of cutting-edge scholars to speak on a broad spectrum of subjects.
Co-presented by Film and Digital Media, History of Art and Visual Culture, and Porter College.
