Theater Arts Second Stage
Presented by:
Department of Performance, Play & Design

UC Santa Cruz’s annual student dance production, Random With A Purpose, is a collaboratively student-run and student-created dance production. Random provides students with the opportunity to choreograph, dance in, and produce a collective performance.

For its 30th anniversary, Random's production,"Re-", will act as a space to safely reflect on lived experiences for the entire cast, as well as a place of processing and healing. “Re-” as a prefix is defined as "back to the original place; again, anew, once more, also with a sense of undoing.” The directors want to facilitate the decolonization of what one thinks of as “traditional” dance foundations, while uplifting voices that are often marginalized in dance spaces. Everyone deserves the opportunity to celebrate being able to move together in person again.
