Film screening: GUSH by Fox Maxy

Audiences are invited on May 17 when the Visual & Media Cultures Colloquium (VMCC) will present a film screening of Gush (2022) by Fox Maxy. 

Fox Maxy is a Payómkawish & Iipay filmmaker based in San Diego, CA. Her work has screened at TIFF, MoMA, Rotterdam and BlackStar Film Festival among other places. In 2020, COUSIN Collective supported the director with her first grant. In 2022, Fox was named as Sundance Institute's Merata Mita Fellow. For 2022-2024, she is a Vera List Center Borderlands Fellow. Fox premiered her first feature length film, Gush, at Sundance Film Festival 2023. Currently Fox is working on a film about mental health.

ABOUT THE SERIES
The annual Visual and Media Cultures Colloquia (VMCC) at UCSC are a collaboration between the graduate programs in Film and Digital Media Department and Visual Studies in the History of Art and Visual Culture Department. The series brings an array of cutting-edge artists and scholars to speak on a broad spectrum of subjects.

This event is organized by VMCC with support from the Arts Research Institute (ARI).
