Pre-6 Lecturer Supplemental Notices:

As soon as possible, no later than 30 days prior to the start of the quarter.

Pre-6 Lecturer Assessments:

The pre-six lecturer assessment must be completed prior to recommending reappointment, and should, in most cases, be completed concurrently with all eligible pre-six lecturers in the department. Assessments should be completed within a reasonable period of time.

Pre-6 Lecturer Layoff and Reductions in Time:

Layoff and Reduction in Time Deadlines vary, but can be from 30 – 90 days prior to the pay date start of the quarter, depending on how many courses a pre-6 lecturer is being laid off from, as well as the number of quarters of service the pre-6 lecturer has in the department. For 9/12 lecturers, this means 30 – 90 days prior to 7/1. If the pre-6 lecturer receives a layoff or reduction in time notice past the deadline, they are entitled to pay in lieu of notice at the department’s expense for the number of days the notice is past the deadline. Please allow an extra ten working days for internal processing once the request is sent to the division.

Continuing Lecturer and Senior Continuing Lecturer Reductions in Time:

Reduction in Time Deadlines for continuing lecturers and senior continuing lecturers vary, but can be from 30 – 60 days prior to the pay date start of the quarter, depending on how many courses the lecturer is being laid off from. Please allow an extra ten working days for internal processing once the request is sent to the division.

Continuing Lecturer and Senior Continuing Lecturer Layoff:

The deadline for complete layoff for continuing lecturers and senior continuing lecturers is 12 months prior to the pay date start of the quarter. For 9/12 continuing lecturers and senior continuing lecturers, this means 12 months prior to 7/1. If the continuing lecturer or senior continuing lecturer receives a layoff notice past the deadline, they are entitled to pay in lieu of notice at the department’s expense for the number of days the notice is past the deadline. Please allow an extra ten working days for internal processing once the request is sent to the division.
