Position: Teaching Assistant Intern

Type: Part-Time (20 hrs per week)

Compensation: $20 per hour

Term: Summer 2019 (runs 7 weeks)

Location: Berkeley, California

JOB SUMMARY:

Join the Berkeley Rep School of Theatre this summer as a Teaching Assistant for our Middle and High School Summer Intensives. Duties include assisting with the supervision and care of students during the summer program and with the daily operation of the Summer Intensive. Duties include, but are not limited to, assisting assistant directors and teachers in the classroom, supervision during lunch, class breaks, drop off, pick up and final performances. The Teaching Assistant positions are part time and duties are often scheduled around the Teaching Assistants availability. 

Duties Include:

  • Assisting with the supervision and care of Berkeley Rep School of Theatre's students during summer intensive as assigned.
  • Assisting Assistant Directors and Teachers in the classroom, as assigned.  The level of the Teaching Assistant’s participation will depend on the needs of the classroom and the prior experience of the Teaching Assistant.
  • Assisting Registrar in the daily operation of the summer theatre intensive as scheduled. 
  • Assisting in the planning and implementation of, and being in attendance for the final evening of performances.
  • Remaining on-site at Berkeley Rep School of Theatre according to scheduled working hours.
  • Reporting any suspicious, disruptive or concerning behavior or events to the Director or Associate Director of the Berkeley Rep School of Theatre
  • Being familiar with all Berkeley Rep School of Theatre emergency procedures.  These procedures will be reviewed during the orientation. Knowing the location of each member of their assigned group and informing the Registrar or Associate Director of any student absence.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Holding current CPR certification and being capable of executing CPR in the case of an emergency.
