California Shakespeare Theater (Cal Shakes) - Position #1

Position: Conservatory Instructional Intern

Type: Full-Time (30 to 40 hrs per week)

Compensation:

Term: Summer 2019 (4 to 6 weeks between June and August)

Location: Orinda, California

JOB SUMMARY:

This position supports the Cal Shakes Summer Conservatory program. Instructional Aides will support and supervise students throughout their conservatory experience. Aides will serve as assistant instructors, assistant directors and activities supervisors in Cal Shakes’ Four Week Summer Shakespeare Conservatory. Aides will also be responsible for taking and sharing production notes with production team, communicating with student parents and guardians, and tending to the emotional, social and physical needs and safety of a diverse group of young actors.

California Shakespeare Theater (Cal Shakes) - Position #2

Position: Conservatory Technical Coordinator

Type: Part-Time

Compensation:

Term: Summer 2019

Location: Orinda, California

JOB SUMMARY:

This position supports the Cal Shakes Summer Conservatory program. The Technical Coordinator will be responsible for the
design, management and implementation of every technical aspect of producing four student productions at the Summer
Conservatory location including; lighting, sound, scenic and stage management. The Technical Coordinator will identify
supply needs and facilitate the sourcing and delivery of said materials to the Conservatory site, interfacing with Cal Shakes
mainstage scene shop, costume shop and properties shops personnel. The Technical Coordinator will work with the
Conservatory Directors, Coordinators and Instructional Aides to facilitate weekly production meetings, and oversee load-in,
paper tech, dry tech, dress rehearsals and strike as needed.
