MUSIC AND ECONOMICS (SENIOR)

Internship: Indexical

I want to be part of shaping the world so that music and the arts continue to be supported and funded.

Christian leads a very productive student life, double majoring in Music and Economics as well as participating in the UCSC opera program, having been part of every production since 2015. On top of that, they are a Resident Assistant at Porter-Kresge-Redwood Grove and a part-time peer advisor at the Music Center.

After having spent last summer working for the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Christian is really looking forward to developing their own project during their CEI internship at Indexical, a composer-run group facilitating long-term development of projects in close collaboration with artists. The group focuses on new chamber and experimental music and works with artists from around the world, producing events throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City.

“My hope is that this internship will give me more insight on the interworking of leading projects and managing organizations, in arts administration,” says Christian. “I don’t expect this experience to be easy, but I’m looking forward to gaining the insight needed to be a better entrepreneur and administrator.”

Making the arts more accessible to people of all backgrounds is one of their future goals. “I will no longer helplessly stand by and observe, but will be empowered by facilitating change.”
