Internship: Vin Di Bona Productions & Fishbowl Worldwide Media, Los Angeles, Calif.

I was inspired by CEI’s encouragement for college students not to settle for a ‘good career’ influenced by external pressures and stereotypes.

As a double major in the arts and business, David’s future plan is to apply business concepts that he’s learning in class to a real world, arts-centric entrepreneurial project. His internship at  Vin Di Bona Productions & Fishbowl Worldwide Media, an independent production company founded in 1987 and helmed by Peabody and Emmy-award winning producer Vin Di Bona, will give him the tools he needs to achieve his goals. The company is known worldwide for producing America’s Funniest Home Videos, the longest-running entertainment show on the ABC network.

“I think my internship will offer hands-on experience and insight into the television industry that I cannot gain in a classroom setting,” he says. “I’m so excited…and hope the program will help me to develop skills and create professional opportunities in the future, rather than settle for ones that already exist.”

David was initially attracted to CEI due to the wide variety of media companies that were hiring interns through the program. He hopes to become a professional filmmaker and wants to pursue projects that align with his passions. “The CEI program destigmatizes the myth of the ‘starving artist’ by helping students in the Arts gain the necessary entrepreneurial skills to be successful self-starters.”
