Film screening: STOP MAKING SENSE

A film by Jonathan Demme and Talking Heads
Saturday, July 13, 2024 - 6:00pm
UCSC Quarry Amphitheater

Presented by: The Quarry Amphitheater and Noise Pop Industries

Initially released in 1984, the iconic concert film Stop Making Sense follows the legendary rock band Talking Heads during their 1983 Speaking in Tongues album tour, which marked the peak of their popularity. Today, renowned independent entertainment company A24 has restored the film in honor of its 40th anniversary. In addition to this unique outdoor viewing experience, the one-of-a-kind event will round out the night with a special Q&A featuring UCSC Film & Digital Media Department alumnus James Mockoski, an archivist and restoration supervisor for Coppola's company American Zoetrope, who initially uncovered the lost footage used in the new A24 re-release.

A portion of each ticket will benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Cruz County.
